WE HAVE SOMEWHERE TO LIVE!!!
(First the background details that might bore some...)
The bad news first... the housing office is running two different businesses there. You get one story via internet/email and another when you call. This has been confusing. We JUST found out that we cannot get into a 4 bedroom unless we have 3 children. (Bad news). We also were reminded that we were FAR down the list for a 3 bedroom (more bad news). So we only have a chance at a 2 bedroom for on campus living (very bad news...)
But we got an offer for a two bedroom. You can reject one offer and get another offer for the same application- but that is it. So, on Monday we got an offer for a two bedroom that was only 80 more square feet than what we have now. We called the current tenants and it sounded like a nice place, but we were worried about size. Braden called the housing office and found out there was another unit that someone just turned in their 30 day notice for that we could have. But, we had to reject the offer we had first.
We did and got back a weird email that acted like they had no idea who were were (so impersonal) and that gave us no idea whether they were intending to offer the unit they just told us about... AHHH!!!
(Now the important stuff)

| The actual building we will be living in |
Yesterday, we got our new offer! Here are the details:
2 bedroom with den (that the current renters are using as a bedroom!)
200 more square feet than we have now
Washer and Dryer in the unit (which we thought we were going to have to give up for on campus housing!!)
A fenced in patio! (we are on the first floor)
A full sized dishwasher! Finally!!
We are 1.5 km from the beach and 1.5 km from Braden's building!
The downsides are there is one bathroom and not an extra "guest room" like we were hoping for with a 4 bedroom. The rent is a bit less than the 4 bedroom, but I wish I could say it is significantly less. I guess we will have to have another baby next year to get into the 4 bedroom. JUST KIDDING.
So with this move we will for sure be selling 3 things we love:
1. my first car and first love- the tercey.
2. our washer and dryer
3. our European dishwasher.
Let us know if you or your friends/family want to purchase these things at the end of August!

It looks like a very nice place! I am so happy things worked out so well for you guys. I can't wait to visit you there!
ReplyDeleteOh my! They sound so flaky to work with. It's so hard to work with people so far away (we know that from experience). But I'm glad you got an offer and it will have a patio and get be close to the beach. How fun! We'll have to get together with you guys!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you! Glad you could get into something that works for you! When will the move take place?
ReplyDeleteYes!! No hauling boxes up the stairs!!! Or kids, or groceries, or....
ReplyDeleteSounds fantastic! I love the bottom floor( no one can yell at you when your kids run around), easy to move into, and more space is awesome! That is awesome it is so close to the beach, and the picture of your actual place is beautiful!
